Laude was incorporated in 1961 when the then managing director of the cheese factory in the small town of Laude in East Groningen had this bright idea to replace the wooden cheese moulds which were then in use, with synthetic moulds. These new moulds, at that time in combination with the traditional cheesecloth, would be easier to clean, and furthermore it would make the automation of the cheese production even simpler.
This idea was warmly welcomed in the Dutch dairy industry. Shortly after equipping the cheese factory in Laude with the first synthetic cheese mould, many other prominent co-operations in The Netherlands followed, and after two years the first export order was a fact.
Through the years many cheese factories all over the world have opted for the Laude cheese moulds for their cheese production. In the early years of her existence Laude supplied the moulds with the traditional cheesecloth. Later on these moulds, once again after an invention by the director of the cheese factory Laude, were fitted with groove structures and micro perforations, making the cheesecloth redundant.
Because of the many mergers and take-overs in the dairy industry, demand for flexible cheese production methods has strongly increased. Already in the seventies, Laude has developed the multi forms concept for this reason. This concept offers the possibility to work with one single cheese line, by means of constantly selecting the outer dimension of a specific type of form, in order to produce a vast variety of cheese sorts models. By using this method it has become possible, with one cheese line, to produce round as well as rectangular cheeses of various different dimensions, without the necessity to make worthwhile adaptations.
Nowadays an ultramodern factory is located in Ter Apel where only cheese moulds are being developed and manufactured. By completely specializing on the development of cheese moulds, a high degree of specialisation has developed within the company, as well as the presence of invaluable knowledge regarding the cheese production. It seems relatively simple to manufacture cheese moulds as well as to use these mould in the cheese factory.
Nevertheless the mould in conjunction with the quality and expertise of the cheese makers is the instrument, which enables the production of the perfect cheese. This is why Laude has invested heavily in the past years in the development of the cheese moulds as well as in the manner in which they are manufactured. By doing so, it can be guaranteed that, should you decide to purchase Laude moulds, you will obtain a maximum yield from your investment. As far as this is concerned the philosophy, which Laude has steadfastly held over the years, has remained unchanged.
